All polls should be created in the 'What do you think?' Forum.
There are a few things to consider before starting a poll.
Please check if a similar poll already exists in this forum (including on the older pages which are visible by clicking on the 'page number' links at the top left and bottom left of the main page). Duplicate polls will be deleted by the moderators.
Please also think carefully about the poll options you wish to list. For example, for a poll about 'Favourite Actors', don't just include two or three of your own favourites - try to make the poll fair. If appropriate, include an 'other' option as your last poll option, as you can't always include every possible option in the poll.
Creating Your Poll:
1. When you click 'New Topic', you still add the 'Topic Title' (eg. 'Favourite Actor') and 'Topic Description' (optional) as before.
2. Under those text boxes you will see 'Poll Options' and a link to click on. Click this link.
3. In the 'Poll Title' text box which appears, you must enter a title for your poll (eg. 'Favourite Actor').
4. In the 'Poll Contents' box, enter the question you are asking, eg. 'Who is your favourite actor?'
5. Underneath those boxes you will see a green link 'Add Poll Choice'; by clicking on this you can enter you first poll option (eg. Nicholas Bishop). Similar links will appear underneath and as you click on these more text boxes appear for you to add the other options in your poll. Only enter one option per text box; the absolute maximum number of options you can add is 20.
6. There is no need to click on the further green link underneath saying 'Add Poll Question'; this is only required if you are adding a further poll in the same 'topic' or 'thread', which we wouldn't normally recommend.
7. Enter any further comments about your poll in the large text box underneath, maybe explaining which option you are choosing and why. You have to write something in here or the topic will not upload onto the forum.
8. There is no need to enter anything in the text boxes at the bottom of the screen ('Specify Topic Open/Closing Time') as you wouldn't normally want to set a time limit on responses to your poll.
10. When you're all done, click 'Post New Topic' and your poll will appear on the forum.
