Sending a personal message
Sending a personal message or PM to another member is a very useful feature. On the board 'spam' is strictly forbidden. Spam is a word used for posts which for example only have one word like 'yes' or 'thanks', it also applies to posts which are talking to another member in the middle of topic eg. In a Home and Away discussion topic, someone posts 'Hi Lisa, how are you?' This is spam and one of the purposes of PM's.
Using your messenger:
Your messenger is part of your menu in the control panel:
Here are the functions:
'Compose new message'- To start a new PM you use this feature. When clicked it shows this box:
At the top you enter the member's name and then below a message title. In the big box you type your message. A the bottom, you are given two options
'Add a copy of this message to my sent items folder' This is so you can view it again and
'Track this message' You will learn more about this further down.
Finally click 'send message' and thats your PM sent.
Inbox- This is where you can read PM's that have been sent to you.
Sent Items- If you click 'Add a copy of this message to my sent items folder' when sending a PM then it will be saved in here
Saved (Unsent) PMs- For example you are writing a long PM and run out of time because you have to go somewhere you can save your PM here and continue it later.
Empty PM folders- Your inbox and sent items together can only hold 55 messages so instead of deleting them all separately, this feature does it all together.
Edit Storage Folders- Here you can change the names or your inbox and sent items and add other folders.
PM block list- If you don't want a certain member sending you PM's, you can stop them here.
Archive Messages- This feature allows you to get an email sent to you containing the last eg 30 messages you received.
Message Tracker- If you select the 'Track this message' feature when sending a PM it will appear here. This feature allows you to see if the person receiving it (the recipient) has read it or not and if not, allows to delete the message from their inbox before they read it.
